Home / Collections / Stainless steel

Stainless steel, built like furniture.

304 or 430 steel, 0.8-1.2 mm, folded and bead-blasted or hairline on our own lines - the zero-formaldehyde line for kitchens that should outlive the trend cycle.

Why steel

The material that never dates.

Steel doesn't warp, it doesn't yellow, and it doesn't off-gas - a full-steel kitchen measures 0.00 mg/m³ of formaldehyde against the ≤0.05 of our E0 board. It's also the only line where the carcase and the face are the same material, so the reveal lines stay true for decades.

Most "steel cabinets" are a thin skin on a particleboard box. Ours isn't: the box, the island and the frame are all steel, joined by folded edges and fastened with hardware rated to 50,000 cycles.

The frame

Aluminium frame from our own profile line.

Doors ride on an aluminium frame profile that we extrude in-house, which keeps the 1.5 mm reveal crisp without visible hinges on a flat slab. Because the frame is our own, lead time on frame changes is days, not the import cycle a third-party profile would take.

It's the same line of thinking as the lacquer range - a structural element we control rather than buy - just in metal instead of paint.

The full spec - toe kick, sink bases, shallow runs, vanity widths - is on the cabinet sizes page. Anything outside the table is itemised on the production list, not quoted off a chart.

Stainless runs are quoted per spec on your drawings - the number lands with the 3D layout, usually within one business day.

Pairings

Steel does its best work next to three materials.

Natural wood veneer panel, book-matched grain

Steel + veneer

A steel frame with book-matched oak doors is the pairing we build most: industrial bones, warm face. The veneer range lives on the finishes page.

Matte painted panel in the lacquer line

Steel + lacquer

Painted fronts on a steel box, any RAL, matte to gloss. The cure schedule is on the lacquer page.

Stone island surface in the showroom kitchen

Steel + stone

A stone seat clipped straight into the steel island frame - no glue line, no shadow gap. Honed marble, sintered or solid surface.

At scale

The steel line, in the room.

The frame comes off our own profile line; the finish is hairline by default, polished on request - same lead time as the painted lines.

FAQ

Stainless, in plain answers.

Does a steel kitchen actually measure zero formaldehyde?
The steel itself is a metal - there's no adhesive, no melamine, no board to off-gas, so the carcase contribution is zero. Our E0 board (for any mixed runs) tests at ≤0.05 mg/m³ under the EN 717-1 protocol, report SQ2405393, and we attach the report to the contract.
Will it scratch and show fingerprints?
Hairline grain hides handling marks far better than mirror polish, and bead-blasted is the low-glare option for busy kitchens. A soft microfibre cloth is all it needs - no polish, no wax. For a full-steel kitchen the spec sheet carries the finish code so the replacement panels match later.
Can I mix steel with oak or painted fronts?
Yes, and that's the most-ordered configuration. Steel carcase with veneer or lacquered doors keeps the structural benefits while the face reads as the room's material. The finish list is on the finishes page and the paint schedule is on the lacquer page.
Is stainless more expensive than a board kitchen?
Usually, at the same size - the material and the folding work cost more than cutting board. We quote per spec on your drawings, so the number is for your run, not a catalogue price. For a single feature wall or island, steel is a much smaller step up than a full run.
How long does a steel run take to make?
The standard factory lead is 10-14 days for board runs; steel runs typically land at the longer end of that window because of the folding and welding stages. Door-to-door DDP adds 18-22 days to the US West or 15-20 to Sydney. Lacquered steel adds the cure time - see the lacquer page for the schedule.
